How the index is put together
Every price comes from the vendor's own website and carries the date it was checked. Prices from directories, marketplaces and review sites are left out. Each vendor counts once, in one service, at its lowest published price. A service makes the table only when at least four vendors quote the same unit, so the median means something. When a vendor changes its prices, its entry is rechecked and the index moves with it.
